INVESTING IN NATURE, SECURING OUR FUTURE WITH PT HINO FINANCE INDONESIA: PLANTING 2.511 MANGROVE TREES AT WONOREJO ECOTOURISM SITE, SURABAYA
Surabaya, 4 June 2025 - As part of its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, PT Hino Finance Indonesia (the "Company") is implementing environmental conservation activities through a sustainable tree planting program. In 2025, this activity was held again in collaboration with LindungiHutan, an organization focused on forest conservation and rehabilitation in Indonesia.
The tree planting took place at the Wonorejo Ecotourism area in Surabaya, where a total of 2,511 Rhizophora sp. mangrove trees were planted to help restore the vulnerable coastal ecosystem. The event carried the theme “Investing in Nature, Securing Our Future with PT Hino Finance Indonesia”, reflecting the Company’s dedication to integrating environmental sustainability into both its business practices and community engagement.
This planting activity also involved the Company's employees from the Surabaya branch office, including Mr. Rinto Setyono as Branch Manager, employee representatives from the Company's head office, and local communities including coastal farmers who are in direct contact with the mangrove ecosystem on a daily basis.

In her speech, Mrs. Nurul, a representative of the farmers’ group, emphasized the vital role of mangrove trees in maintaining coastal stability. “Mangrove trees like Rhizophora have strong root systems that can withstand sea waves and help prevent land degradation due to erosion,” Mrs. Nurul explained. She also noted that mangroves have high water absorption capacity, making them effective in reducing the risk of flooding in nearby residential areas. Additionally, Mrs. Nurul conducted a short training session on proper mangrove planting techniques, covering topics such as seedling selection and best planting practices for muddy coastal soil.
Ms. Dwi Ratnaningsih, the Company's Marketing Manager, stated, "By planting mangrove trees, we hope to make a long-term contribution to environmental sustainability and support the livelihoods of local communities." She also added that this planting activity is a concrete manifestation of the Company's concern for environmental issues, particularly those related to the sustainability of marine and coastal ecosystems.
